What changed
What is the new Civic Sport-L?
The Sport-L slots between the Sport and the Sport Hybrid. It runs on the 2.0-liter gas engine rather than the hybrid system, but its cabin borrows from the hybrid trims.
The headline upgrades are leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Leather upholstery had been offered only on the Sport Touring Hybrid before this.
Honda adds a few smaller touches as well: a passenger-side seatback pocket and illuminated vanity mirrors, both previously limited to hybrid trims, plus silver-colored interior trim that was a Sport Touring Hybrid exclusive until now. None of those will make a spec sheet headline, but they are the details you notice on a long drive.
Who is the Sport-L for? We think it fits the driver who wants a nicer interior and heated seats for chilly Delaware mornings but does not need the hybrid's fuel economy, perhaps because most trips are short hops around Kent County.

The gas trims (LX, Sport and Sport-L) use a 2.0-liter engine rated at 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, connected to a continuously variable transmission. Sport and Sport-L add paddle shifters.
The hybrid trims pair a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder rated at 141 horsepower and 134 lb-ft with a two-motor hybrid system. Instead of a CVT, they use a Direct Drive Unit with deceleration selectors. Every 2027 Civic Sedan is front-wheel drive.
